Fill It or Spill It

Bikini Blonde Lager

I was saving this beer review for one of those crappy east coast winter days.  One of those days when it’s bitterly cold outside, a couple of inches of snow, and I was wishing I was back in Hawaii.  Let’s face it, I wish I was in Hawaii everyday.  Since those crappy winter days never came to fruition, I figured I’d do this post in honor of the warm weather.  This was one of the many beers I tried from Maui Brewing.

The beer poured a bright yellow color with some fluffy white head.  The head dissipated fairly quickly and settled to a light coating on the top of the beer.  It had a lively carbonation to it as well, very fizzy.  The ABV on this beer was 4.5%, so I was able to a put a few of these back with no problem.

The aroma was very light and fresh smelling.  I could immediately pick up the bready, wheat aroma.  There was also some light hoppyness with a touch of citrus aroma.  Very crisp smelling.

The taste is what you would expect from the aroma; light and wheaty.  The beer also had a touch of sweetness and was quite refreshing.  The body was really light and went down easily.  A good beer to enjoy with dinner or at a luau or just anywhere really.

Verdict: Fill It!  This was a great beach beer.  Very light and enjoyable for those days when you just want to lounge around on the beach with the ocean breeze.  It’s not the most complex beer in the world, but it didn’t have to be because there are just some days where you just want to drink something light.  If you are in Hawaii, can you ever go wrong with taking a bikini blonde with you to the beach?
